Famous phrases by José Roberto Guimarães

José Roberto Guimarães was the first Olympic champion coach for Brazil. In 1992, at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, he led the men’s team to winning the gold medal.
Later, in charge of the women’s team, José Roberto Guimarães won two more gold medals, becoming the first three-time Olympic team champion coach in the history of Brazilian sport.

Bernardinho and José Roberto Guimarães were the first coaches to lead Brazil to gold medals in the Olympic Games. But this success story started earlier, with the first steps taken by another of the greatest volleyball coaches of all time.
Brazil started to be recognized as an Olympic power in volleyball in the 1980s. At the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, in 1984, the “silver generation” was consecrated, as the team led by Bebeto de Freitas, who became known received Brazil’s first medal in sport at the Olympics.
Always connected to political aspects, Bebeto de Freitas, who was also a football manager (in Botafogo and Atlético Mineiro), was notable for the questions raised in relation to the bad management of volleyball in Brazil.
