—> Hi guys! This post is already a little old, I recommend that you access the new post with the updated list of stores: Plus Size no Bom Retiro

Today I prepared for you a list of the best stores to buy plus size fashion at the Good Retreat. Many readers have written asking for tips from big sizes, from the XG, with good price and quality, so enjoy! 🙂

Video with my tour of Bom Retiro:

I ended up discovering these stores because of my mother. she wanted to buy linen pants, and in this search we ended up finding several cool things.

It was hard to find the pants she wanted, in a fine, exquisite linen, just like the one my sister had brought her from a trip to France. Here in the malls, this type of pants cost more than R$1000, so I thought it would be impossible for us to find this type of item in Bom Retiro, but we were very lucky!

Anyone who wears large sizes knows that it’s impossible to buy without trying. The numbers vary a lot from brand to brand, and my mother ended up buying pieces numbering 46 to 52! That’s why I hardly buy clothes as a gift if she’s not there to try on.

Looking for large sizes at a small price

We started our journey by Rua Ribeiro de Lima, a crossroads of José Paulino that is right behind Jardim da Luz park, at Luz subway station.

This street is already the beginning of a fat girl’s paradise, with several special size stores.

The first stop was at new York, number 436. Ali Dona Tereza (mom) bought an embroidered cardigan -R$80, three basic tank tops -R$40 each and two knitted pants that were in stock and cost R$20 each (the photos are at the end of the post, in the looks of the day!).

In addition to being a lady of a certain age, my mother has a discreet style, so we buy more basic pieces with some items to give “bossa” to the looks, but if you are XOVEN and/or fussy, know that the stores have a lot of fads and models cool. 🙂

Afterwards we entered the store next door, the Indian one Baani Fashions, at number 444. We were attended by the owner, a very nice Indian (or descendant). Baani sells regular-number and plus-size clothing, scarves, accessories and home furnishings, all imported from India.

we made a huge mess, she tasted a thousand things, I tasted a thousand things, we made the owner look for a number of everything in the stock, crazy. I ended up taking two little dresses and my mother took them: a beautiful printed shirt -R$60, a carved wooden box -R$30, a wooden cat -R$20, a handkerchief -R$5 and… a TABLE -R$400.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, she made me load and drop off at the airport a set of four coffee tables. Imagine the joy of taxi drivers seeing a package of more than 1x1m.

A little further on we found Miglon, from whom I had heard good references, but Dona Tereza didn’t like anything there.

My mom asked at every store about the linen pants she wanted until she got a hot tip.

We decided to cut the way to Rua José Paulino through a very cute alley with charming restaurants and found more plus size fashion stores!

One of the entrances to the alley is at number 226 on José Paulino.

Arriving at José Paulino we soon found the store Nutrisport, at number 248, where, according to legend, we would find the linen trousers. And we found it! 😀

But the prices were still pretty savory. Even in Bom Retiro, Nutrisport’s linen pants cost between R$400 and R$600!

But we were very lucky and at the end of stock we found two beautiful pants that fit really well. One cost R$178 and the other R$100, because they were the last of these models.

Still at José Paulino, we passed the Talento store, another reference brand in large models where my mother didn’t like anything either.

I had read about the Tulnitex, which is in building number 586, room 13 1st floor. We went there to check it out, but found out that Tulnitex’s specialty is really special sizes. Numbering starts at 52 and the sky is the limit. The products are aimed at the obese public.

Our latest discovery was the Silva Pinto Street, another José Paulino platter full of plus size stores!

We passed Garage no. 283, Bel-Rose no. 301, Modena no. 303, By Cristian no. large size lingerie store Blue Moon, at 319.

In the second look, Dona Tereza exhibits a laid-back look, with:

  • New York Regatta – R$40
  • Nutrisport linen pants – R$178

For look number three we have a combination for everyday life:

  • New York Regatta – R$40

*For Christmas she combined the pants with a blue blouse and it was very interesting because she talked to the colorful details.
