The situation has left the chip and snack food aisle of many Loblaw stores less full than usual, or stocked with house brands, such as President’s Choice or No Name.

Yes, you can still buy President’s Choice or No Name chips at Shoppers while picking up your allergy medicine, but good luck finding Miss Vickie’s, Smartfood or Hickory Sticks. At least until Frito-Lay and Loblaw can work out their differences. Frito Lays and Loblaws need to solve their stand-off.

A standoff has emerged between Canada’s largest grocer and one of the world’s largest packaged-goods companies, over the price of potato chips. But the dispute – which has led PepsiCo-owned potato-chip manufacturer Frito-Lay to cut off shipments to stores owned by Loblaw Cos. Ltd. L-T– goes beyond the snack aisle.
