When did IHOP and Waffle House come on the scene?
Since IHOP and Waffle House came on the scene in the 1950s, Americans have debated, rated and contemplated which of the two most popular breakfast bites reigns supreme. The Daily went to both restaurants to observe atmosphere, price and quality of the food in order to crown one restaurant as king of the most important meal of the day.
However, it’s important to note that I prefer crispy hash browns, chewy bacon and fluffy eggs. Waffle House currently features a blueberry waffle, so I decided to order that, as well as blueberry pancakes at IHOP to see which one does its flavor best.
Which is better, IHOP or Waffle House?
If you are with a group, IHOP is the better choice because it is a sit-down family styled restaurant. Waffle House has limited seating and sometimes customers have to wait to get a seat especially on holidays when other restaurants are closed.
Even though the restaurant specializes in breakfast foods, customers can eat a well-balanced lunch and a full-course dinner at IHOP. The company has 1,650 locations in the United States, Canada and in the Middle East.
Waffle House and IHOP keep their restaurants open 24 hours, seven days a week to satisfy a craving at any time of the day or night. Therefore, when choosing between the two chains, customers usually base their decision on the location, food, atmosphere, service, or price.
Headquartered in Gwinnett Country, Georgia, the chain has more than 2,100 locations in 25 states in the country, but most of the locations are in the South. It was founded in 1955 in Atlanta, Georgia. Waffle House is a cultural icon because most people know about the chain because they are located along interstate highways or on major streets in cities.
Waffle House serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day. If you go with a group of people, one person at the table could be eating bacon and eggs. Another person could be eating a tuna sandwich. A third person could be eating a t-bone steak. No matter what taste a customer has, Waffle House is aimed to please for its dine-in only service.
You can always count on a Waffle House to be open. It is a chain that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week even on major holidays when other restaurants are closed. A Waffle House is not hard to find in any city.
International House of Pancakes, commonly known as IHOP, is similar to Waffle House in many instances. However, some people prefer one over the other. Just like Waffle House, you can find an IHOP in most cities. It, too, is opened 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
