What Is The Healthiest Bubble Tea?

None

While you can purchase dehydrated tapioca pearls to reconstitute, the best version of bubble tea is the one you make at home. Dehydrated tapioca pearls are white instead of black as they have no added brown sugar.

Most commercially made bubble tea contains added sugars and not many mineral or vitamin benefits, so it’s not the healthiest beverage option. According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), an 8-ounce or 240 milliliter serving of bubble tea has 120 calories, 1.49 grams of fat and 28.01 grams of carbohydrates.

A January 2017 study published in Food Science & Nutrition explains that a 16-ounce serving of bubble tea with tapioca pearls and milk tea has 38 grams of sugar. This exceeds the daily recommended amount, which over time can result in weight gain.

Nutrition Drawbacks. The typical bubble tea isn’t healthy. The recipe varies, but may contain as much as 1/2 cup of cooked tapioca pearls, 1/4 cup sugar and 1/8 cup sweetened condensed milk per serving.
