Hair - how to pluck, shred, shred and shape

A good hairdresser needs to know all the techniques that can add texture, decrease or increase volume and leave the hair balanced. And all of this can be done without taking anything out of hair length, if your client wants to. Just know it well and execute each technique with perfection. There are four techniques for the cuts: pecking, shredding, perforating and profiling. With these techniques, you can make any cut that is modern, unstructured, and what could become fashionable going forward.

The pecking technique consists of thinning and uneven the ends of the locks

1- How to prick your hair

The pecking technique consists of thinning and uneven the ends of the locks. The parting is usually done with scissors and serves to give an irregular shape to the cut. It is indicated to define the curly of wavy hair and to give lightness to smooth and fine.

How to make

– Lift the strand to be cut upwards, combing the hair well, as if it is not completely untangled, the cut may not be correct. The wild cut is an example of a peaked cut.

– Leave the lock completely vertical and cut straight, based on the thread that is the desired length.

– When the wires fall back into place they fall in overlapping layers.

2- How to unravel your hair

This technique is quite versatile, as it can both give movement to the hair (in the case of straight and wavy) and remove volume (curly and frizzy are the biggest benefits). But you have to be very careful with the nature of the hair, so that it doesn’t get frizzy. The shredded technique can be performed with scissors or a razor. It follows the peaked line, but leaves the wires more “disconnected”, that is, uneven. Perfect for straight or wavy hair, with a medium coarse texture.

How to make

– Comb the strand forward and raise it to the height where the hair will start to fray.

– Start at eye level if you want a short bangs, at nose level for a medium bangs, and at chin level for a bangless cut.

– This first strand that you will unravel will serve as a basis to start unraveling the other strands. When you are going to unravel the other locks, take a few strands of the first one and start unraveling where it ends.

– Place the scissors in a vertical position with the blades positioned where you measured it, to start the shredding. Slide the scissors blade until you reach the end of the lock while maintaining the length.

– The shredded does not remove in length. You can take it out to length if you shred it, also cutting the end that serves as a guide. But, normally, it is only used for thinning, removing the volume from the top of the hair. He cuts the top threads leaving only the bottom ones.

Tips

– To decrease volume and length at the same time, shredding is the most used method. Shredding can be done on both dry and wet hair.

– The scissors are “slipped” into dry hair, so that the hairdresser can unravel. If it’s wet, and you don’t have the practice, the strands can break or form “steps” that appear when the hair dries.

– On wet hair, or better, damp hair, it is best to use a razor, which slides more easily along the strands – if it is too wet, it sticks and is more difficult to cut. Using a razor on dry hair can pull the strands and hurt!

– On fine, spiky or frizzy hair, the razor should be used over the lock. Pressure determines the volume withdrawn. The more you squeeze, the more strands you will cut.

– For straighter hair, the razor should be used under the lock.

– To reduce the volume, the hairdresser can opt for scissors similar to a scalpel, which is the most suitable for achieving this effect, as it allows the hairdresser to work strand by strand, removing some parts at random, to give a natural effect.

– The beauty of the shreds is the inequality of the ends and the lightness it gives to the threads. But, to maintain the result, maintenance is a key point.

– Medium or long hair shredded with scissors remains beautiful for two to three months. But, if the shredding is done with a razor, the durability of the cut drops to 45 days. Short ones need even more frequent maintenance – one month is ideal.

– For the hair to be looser and give a feeling of volume, the fraying should be very subtle.

– Cutting the ends: Trim just a few strands using the ends of the scissors.

– Cutting the fringe: with vertical scissors, with blades parallel to the threads, join the fringe threads, twist and cut downwards. The same technique can be done on a thick or heavy fringe.

Avoid using a razor on:

– Frizzy hair
– Dead hair

3- How to cut hair

This is a technique that uses regular scissors or bites to cut the ends of the threads and define the shape. It is used for smooth, thick and heavy threads. If you use toothed scissors, the result will be bolder and with more uneven threads. But you can use straight scissors and you will succeed.

– Place the tip of the scissors parallel to the lock, facing the lock, and cut the strands randomly, until they are the length you want, with the strands all unequal.

This type of technique consists of cutting the ends of the hair inwards – both in length and in the fringe – using the tips of scissors. The cut makes the hair lighter and creates volume and balance at the ends. The perforated cut can also be used to give a more natural effect to the hairstyle, defining the style. The height of the strands and which strands will be chopped will depend on the final result you want.

4- How to profile hair

The profiling technique consists of removing the thickness of each strand, without changing the length. It is a type of cut with a peaked front that follows the profile of the face, forming a frame. It is for straight and wavy hair.

How to make

This is a technique similar to tapering in general, used on very thick or coarse hair. The profiled cut is always done on clean, dry hair, using very sharp regular scissors.

– Cut from one side of the strand to the other side in three movements.

– Remove a few strands of hair from the left side of the lock, then a few strands from the center, and finally a few strands of strands on the right. The same three moves are repeated further down the wick.

Once you learn how to perform these techniques, you will be able to reproduce any cut.

Once you learn how to perform these techniques, you can look in a fashion magazine, or at a concert, and reproduce any cut. Be sure to always be informed about what you are using to stay ahead of your competitors.
