Does Five Guys Freeze Their Meat?

At Five Guys, the food is so fresh they don’t even have freezers on the premises at any of their restaurants. It’s coolers all the way, baby. From fresh beef to fresh-cut fries, Five Guys does not skimp when it comes to delivering the best iteration of a favorite American meal.

Five Guys uses a blend of chuck and sirloin, and none of its restaurants have freezers on site, so to get the perfect Five Guys burger, buy your meat fresh and only refrigerate it. Schweid and Sons does not sell a straight-up chuck/sirloin mix, so we’ll have to fake that part.

As Delish points out, although Five Guys prides itself on not using frozen produce — and thus not having any freezers — mushrooms are one of the very few items that are kept in a state of chill by being stored in coolers.

(Full ingredients list is at the end with the recipe.) The beef Five Guys uses at most of its stores comes from Schweid and Sons, and if you live in the right areas, you might be able to buy some down at the grocery store.

Get familiar with both before the next time you get a burger craving! The Five Guys menu is pretty simple: Burgers and fries (of course), along with hot dogs and a couple of other options, depending on the store.

Burgers and French fries aren’t known for being super healthy anyway, but Five Guys really packs a calorie punch in little packages. A “little hamburger” with just one patty rocks 480 calories with 26 grams of fat while a bacon cheeseburger has over 920 calories with an astounding 62 fat grams—almost 30 of those from saturated fat.

Why do you skip the bun at Five Guys?

Another reason you might need to skip the bun at Five Guys is because they don’t offer a gluten-free bread option.

In 2017, Five Guys won the title of America’s favorite burger chain, and as of 2019, there are almost 1,500 locations across the world, with another 1,500 in development. At Five Guys, the food is so fresh they don’t even have freezers on the premises at any of their restaurants. It’s coolers all the way, baby.

Just order a Five Guys cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and grilled onions as your topping, and ask for a side of mayo, ketchup, and mustard.

An order of large fries from McDonald’s has 510 calories, though to be fair it does contain fewer fries than the Five Guys version. Five Guys’ regular size fry, which is probably the most commonly ordered, weighs in at 953 calories and 41 grams of fat. It’s not rocket science to deduce that heftier portions of fried food translates …

If you’re looking to customize the temperature of your ground beef to something below the FDA’s recommended 160 degrees Fahrenheit, you should probably hit up a steakhouse, not your local fast-casual burger joint.

Don’t Eat At Five Guys Until You Read This. What started in 1986 as a small, family-owned burger joint in Arlington, Virginia has grown into a massive fast-casual chain with legions of loyal supporters. In 2017, Five Guys won the title of America’s favorite burger chain, and as of 2019, there are almost 1,500 locations across the world, …

Most fast food lovers can probably agree on one thing: There is nothing worse than a soggy french fry. And if the thought of soggy fries makes you shudder with dread, you can always order your fries well done when you go to Five Guys.

How many guys are there in Five Guys?

There are actually six guys. Five Guys was founded by a man named Jerry Murrell, who named the restaurant after his four sons: Jim, Matt, Chad and Ben. The year after the first location opened, however, he had another son named Tyler.

Whether you’re eating in the restaurant or taking your food home, Five Guys serves everything in paper bags. Some customers dis like this because it creates so much waste for people who only use the bag to walk from the counter to the table, but that hasn’t stopped the chain from sticking to their policy.

If you’re trying to scale back and want to stick with just a typical carton of fries, a former employee suggests ordering your fries “with no topper.”. However, if you think the fries are as good as we do, you might be okay with a few extras. Originally Published: May 09, 2019.

The fries are twice-baked to get that iconic crunch. To produce such a massive amount of fries, this chain has mastered their method. Five Guys fries their potatoes in two stages. First, they dunk raw slices in oil to “pre-cook” the potatoes.

How many calories are in Five Guys ketchup?

On the bottom goes the ketchup and mustard. Five Guys ketchup is 20 calories per serving. So is Heinz and Hunt’s. Five Guys has a touch more sodium (180 milligrams) than Heinz’s 160 milligrams, but Hunt’s comes in right at 180 milligrams.

Ketchup gets three rings on the bun — from a small-nosed ketchup dispenser. Mustard gets two rings. The mustard is just a standard yellow mustard from Heinz as well.

Even leaving a burger wrapped up for 10 minutes in foil led to a super gooey cheese but a slightly soggy bun.

What do you need for burgers? You need meat. I mixed equal portions 80/20 chuck with 90/10 sirloin. You’ll also need sesame seed buns, deli-style Kraft American cheese, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, and mayonnaise. For equipment, you’ll need two cooking areas, nonstick parchment paper, a cookie sheet, a food scale, and aluminum foil. (Full ingredients list is at the end with the recipe.)

The big giant container of ketchup in the store says “Heinz” on it, so clearly it’s Heinz ketchup but a specific mix of it. If you actually put Five Guys, Heinz, and Hunt’s next to each other, Five Guys tastes a little closer to Hunt’s than it does to store-bought Heinz.

After the flip and smash, the buns should be just about ready. Five Guys toasts the buns, but they’re certainly not well done. They should just be toasty enough to hold some toppings. For the purpose of this “exact” recipe, we’re going very simple with just “wet” toppings — ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and hot sauce.
