Amidst so many other current hairstyles, short ones go far beyond a mere matter of practicality. It should be noted that, whoever wants a short haircut, manifests a desire to assert their personality: it is a question of liberation!

And to talk about it, there’s nothing better than a specialist in short hair: our LMaster Emerson Ferraz (photo), hairdresser and visagist, who has been making the heads of many women for 23 years. He won fans all over Brazil by sharing his exclusive technique of Nuca Perfeita on his social networks.

For Emerson, the short cuts are versatile and don’t necessarily offer only the most classic look, as textures and layers are their biggest differentiators. In addition, he says that bangs are on the rise, especially for women who want a short cut with a more powerful edge.

As for the Chaneis – her specialty and which alludes to the stylist Coco Chanel – they free themselves from the aesthetic standards of a sexist society. And today it comes with several nomenclatures and sizes, presented below:

bob cut: above neck with elongated or short bangs and long, disconnected ends.

Blunt cut: shoulder length or shorter with straight base! And with heavier tips.

long bob: below the shoulders, with a straight base or disconnected, with bangs or with a beak; never passing the line of the beginning of the breasts.

Pixie: the short one, with shaved or not shaved sideburns, always very disconnected and giving a stripped and modern effect!

According to Emerson, “every woman has her ideal short and it is up to the professional to identify which is the best fit for her client’s image. Short cuts are here to stay!” he says.

As an example, if you want a very modern Pixie, we have this model by actress Úrsula Corberó, Tokio de La Casa de Papel (Spanish series shown on Netflix). He is well known as “Corte Joãozinho” or “Batidinho”. As Emerson explains, “nowadays there are several Pixie options, whether it’s abusing the fringe or the pebbled, practically everything is fine. Just analyze your face type.”

And for those who have a rounder face?

The rounder face also goes with a shorter cut. In this case, usually without a very strong bangs or above the mandibular line, as it rounds the face even more in the short cut. A great example would be the Blund Cut, by British singer Adele, which drew breath from many people.

Why is the Chanel cut so appealing to women of different generations?

Known as “bob hair”, the short cut with straight ends started to gain popularity in the beginning of the 20th century. But he was only consecrated occasionally when the French stylist Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel took over this cut in 1918. From then on, the cut was called “Chanel”.

The story is told – unproven – that one day she was hastily drying her hair, as she had an appointment next, and suddenly the dryer blew out. With part of her hair singed, she could only cut it herself, leaving the strands short and close to the back of her neck.

Without this intention, a classic would thus have been born, which would be consecrated throughout the world, years later. And if in the past the chanel cuts were chosen mainly by women with straight hair, today there are many curly and frizzy haircuts betting on this cut, which is also beautiful even with curly hair.
