How to find the shape of the face (and how to favor it)

To find out the shape of the face, you should pin up your hair and take a picture of just the face. Then, looking at the photo, you should imagine or draw a vertical line that divides the face, which will be the face length line, and another horizontal line that divides the face in half, which will be the face width line. With these lines, just compare the measurements and interpret the result.
Another way to analyze the face is to pin up your hair and stand in front of a fixed mirror, in a well-lit place. Afterwards, using lipstick, makeup pencil, chalk or even a whiteboard pen, you can draw the entire contour of the face in the mirror, without including the ears, keeping as still as possible and without tilting your head towards the front.
Types of Face
Round, square, oval, heart, oblong or diamond are the main types of faces that exist to characterize the different shapes, and each one of them has its own shape and specific characteristics:
1. Round face
The lines for the length and width of the face have the same dimensions, that is, the same length. In addition, this type of face does not have straight lines, its angles being poorly defined and very rounded.
This type of face is often confused with the oval type, but in a round face, the forehead is smaller and the distance between the underside of the nose and the chin is less than the length of the entire nose.

2. Square face
In the square face type, the lines for the length and width of the face are also the same dimensions as in the round face, with the big difference that the lines on the face are straight and intense. This type of face has straight forehead, lateral, chin and jaw lines, mostly at right angles.
Often the square face can be easily identified by looking at the part of the face that lies below the face-width line, which is drawn horizontally.

To choose sunglasses or prescription glasses, it is recommended to opt for aviator or kitten-shaped glasses, as they are shapes that soften the straight lines characteristic of this type of face.
More asymmetrical haircuts with volume should be preferred. Short hair also favors this face shape.
3. Oval face
In the oval face, what happens is that the length line is approximately ⅓ greater than the width line, this being a slightly elongated type of face compared to the previous ones. This type of face is soft and delicate and does not have any prominent angles.
- Most suitable glasses:
On these types of faces, both rounded and straight eyeglass models look good. The most important rule is to get the size of the glasses right, which should be neither too big nor too small.
You can opt for more asymmetrical cuts and with movement. Straight bangs also favor this type of face, as it gives the illusion of less face length.
4. Heart face
In the heart face, the length line is greater than the width line, with the chin being pointed and the smallest point of this type of face. In this type of face, the forehead and cheekbones are wide, with similar width, and the jaw lines are long and straight, tapering down to the chin.
This type of face is often associated with an inverted triangle, where the chin is the tip of the triangle.
- Most suitable glasses:
When it is necessary to choose sunglasses or sunglasses, for this type of face, round or round-sided glasses are recommended, with the aviator model being the safest.

5. Oblong face

6. Diamond Face
On the diamond-shaped face, the length line is longer than the width line, and as with the heart-shaped face, the chin is highlighted, having a pointed appearance.
The big difference in this type of face is that the widest region is the cheekbones, with the forehead and hairline being narrower (as opposed to the heart-shaped face) together with a sharp, pointed chin. Also, the jaw lines are long and straight, tapering slightly until reaching the chin.

To choose glasses that match this type of face, it is recommended to choose round glasses, with rounded sides or with an oval underside.
The recommended cut for this face shape is the peaked one, which adds volume and helps to disguise the bumps on the face. In addition, straight-cut bangs also favor these types of faces.
