Female haircut price varies 800% in Belo Horizonte
In beauty salons, services in the female segment can show very high variations. From November 8th to 11th, 2013, the Mercado Mineiro research site conducted a survey of prices for services offered by 28 establishments in Belo Horizonte. For women, the site consulted prices for manicures, pedicures, foot SPA, hand SPA, waxing, dyeing, cutting, brushing, hydrating, progressive, restructuring and makeup. And for men, prices for shaving and beards were consulted.
The female cut showed a variation of 800%, costing from R$15.00 to R$135.00. Women who want to change their look can pay from R$15.00 to R$130.00 for a dye, a variation of 766.67%. The price of the restructuring showed a variation of 550%, with the lowest price of R$30.00 and the highest of R$195.00. The progressive is offered in beauty salons for prices ranging from R$70.00 to R$350.00, with a variation of 400%. Anyone who wants to provide special care to their hair can opt for a hydration, which showed a variation of 380% between prices, and could cost from R$25.00 to R$120.00. The foot SPA also presented a variation of 380%, with the lowest price of R$25.00 and the highest of R$120.00. The smallest variation detected was 25%, a difference found in the price of the hand SPA, which varies from R$40.00 to R$50.00.
For men, the haircut presented a variation of 1,050%, which could cost from R$10.00 to R$115.00. The difference in prices charged by salons for shaving was 400%, and the service can cost from R$8.00 to R$40.00.
It is important to emphasize that the amount charged by each salon may vary depending on the quality of the products used by professionals. The prices of dyeing, women’s cut, brushing and moisturizing services are considered “from”, as these can vary according to the client’s hair conditions.
A comparison of average prices charged by region was made. In most items surveyed, the Center-South region had higher prices. In the region, the female cut, for example, costs an average of R$ 74.70, while in the East region, it costs around R$ 28.80, a difference of 159.38%. To make a progressive brush, those attending salons located in the West Region pay around R$136.00. On the other hand, salons in the Center-South region charge an average of R$211.44, a variation of 55.47%, or R$75.44. To do fingernails and toenails, the price variation is 52.56%, and the service can cost from R$23.40 to R$35.70, a difference of R$12.30.
If the average price charged for the dye in the Center-South region is compared with the average price of all other regions surveyed, a difference of 48.21% can be seen between the values, since in the more expensive region of Belo Horizonte the service costs R$79.50 and in the others it costs R$53.64, a difference of R$25.86.
The West region had the highest average price charged for hair removal, R$101.33, while the service can cost R$70.00 in salons in the East region, a difference of R$31.33 or 44.76%.
Among the barbershops and salons that also cater to the male public, the Center-South region had an average price charged for a haircut – R$ 41.00 – 40.70% more expensive than the average price in the other regions surveyed, which is of BRL 29.14. However, the average price charged to shave is R$22.00 in the West region, while in the Center-South region the average price found was R$15.00.
