Among the preparations that a guest must make to go to a wedding, the elaboration of the make is tied with the choice of the dress in the first place of importance. A uniform skin, well-chosen eyeshadows and lipsticks, and the touches made throughout the event will ensure a nice look and, of course, amazing photos.

Those who will be in the wedding audience and already have some skill with brushes, products and colors can easily do their makeup at home – for bridesmaids and brides, the ideal is to have the services of professional makeup artists, who will know how to dose everything according to factors such as lighting.

We took golden tips from Chloé Gaya, makeup artist and image consultant to Jacques Janine, and Giseli Miliozi, beauty artist and self-makeup teacher, so that basic wedding makeup looks wonderful.

Choose waterproof products
This is the most important tip, because it doesn’t do any good for make-up to be devastating and blur at the first emotion – and there will be many – of the wedding. “The makeup has to last to go through the crying test”, says Chloé. The products that need to have this resistance, especially, are the eyelash mask, the eyeliner and the eye pencil.

Choose eyeshadow and lipstick colors in advance
Before you can actually start doing your makeup, you should have chosen the colors you’ll put on your eyes and mouth. Preferably days before. So, if you need to buy eyeshadows or lipsticks, you’ll have time.

Recommended shades for the day are shades such as peach, gold and light brown; for the night, darker tones, such as dark brown and black, are very good, because they highlight the eyes in the low natural light.

The lipstick will depend on your taste. A nude lipstick looks great during the day, and a coffee brown, wine or red lipstick at night. But nothing prevents you to subvert this and make a mouthful during the day or a very discreet mouth at night.

Finally, avoid using the eyeshadow in the same color as the dress. “In addition to being an old resource, it erases the expression on the face, which we like to emphasize so much”, explains Giseli. If the dress is blue or green, for example, you can use an opaque shade of blue or green and blend the lids in the outer corners with a brown eyeshadow.

prepare the skin
Before thinking about eyes or mouth, your focus should be on preparing your skin: with it beautiful, you are already halfway to a successful make up. Clean it completely, washing and applying the products suitable for your skin type, and then apply a primer all over the face, to ensure evenness of the complexion.

Do your eyes before passing foundation
Uniform skin, now it’s time to get brushes, eyeshadows, eyeliner, pencil and eyelash mask. The eyes should be done before foundation, because invariably there will be shadow residue that will need to be removed from the sides of the eyes and below the lower lashes – and if there was foundation, it would come out with it.

After applying the eyeshadow shades you’ve already chosen in advance, use pencil on the waterline and at the root of the lashes, eyeliner and lots of mask on the upper lashes, to highlight the look.

Opt for an intense coverage base
As the wedding usually has strong lighting for filming and photography, it’s nice to go with a more intense base coverage than everyday. It gives that magazine cover look to the look and looks really good for records that will stay for eternity. On top of it, apply the compact powder suitable for your skin tone.

Use long-lasting lipstick
Regardless of the color of your lipstick, it’s important that it lasts because parties are often long and you’ll eat and drink. Therefore, the secret is to use a long-lasting or matte lipstick.

don’t try to innovate
The courage to dare and invent new things is a commendable trait, but not when doing self makeup to attend a wedding. “The best thing is to make a make with which you have more practice and feel safer. This is not the time to try to innovate”, says Chloé.
So, if you haven’t mastered the art of making kitten outlines yet, don’t try it right now. The same goes for false eyelashes and contours à la Kim Kardashian: only use or do it if you have mastered the techniques. If that’s not the case, practice more and save it for the next wedding.

Eliminate skin shine with translucent powder
The use of compact powder is essential to complete the skin preparation, but it is not ideal for reducing the shine that may appear in the T zone (forehead, nose and chin) over time. For these touches, Giseli’s advice is to use a good translucent powder, without any color.

“It should be applied to areas of the face where oil and shine usually interfere and can be used on any skin tone. However, there are some with more yellowish tones and sparkle, indicated for dark and black skin”, he teaches.

Take a “retouch kit” on the clutch
Ceremonies and wedding parties are often long. The skin may sweat (or, if oily, start to glow in the T-zone), you eat and wipe your mouth with a napkin, drink and lose lipstick on glasses and glasses… That’s why it’s important to have a “retouch kit ” makeup on clutch. The main items are lipstick, translucent powder, concealer and eyelash mask. If it has to do with your look, you can add blush.
