5 tips for choosing which clothes to wear in the pregnant photo shoot
Are you having a hard time choosing what clothes to wear for your pregnancy photo shoot?
Know that you are not alone. After choosing the photographer who will make your pregnant pictures it’s time to choose what you’re going to wear. And this might not be a very easy task, so I brought 5 days to help with the choice.

1 – Comfortable clothes and shoes
Pregnant woman tests are usually done between the 27th and the 31st week so you’re still feeling super good, flexible and comfortable, but to help with the photo shoot remember that you’ll be bending down and getting up a few times, so it’s very important to wear comfortable clothes and shoes so your feet don’t stick swollen and for the rehearsal to be a wonderful time. In some rehearsals, especially those done at home, I photograph barefoot pregnant women. This gives an air of relaxation in the photos and certainly a great relief for pregnant women.
2 – Clothing that enhances the belly (and the rest of the body)
That’s the hard part right? everyone wants one comfortable clothes that look beautiful on the body, but choosing is not an easy task. So my first tip is to remember that the belly doesn’t have to be showing up in every photo of your pregnancy photo essay. Long dresses that cover the belly tend to enhance the look a lot, just choose a fabric that highlights the belly (and it doesn’t even have to be tight). Also, don’t forget to hide or disguise the parts of your body that you don’t like very much. If you think your arms were fuller during pregnancy, just choose a look with a sleeve or put a blouse over it.
3 – Neutral colors for the pregnancy test
Neutral colors tend to look much nicer in photos. Clothes with a lot of prints can take the attention away from the subject and not talk very well when putting together an album, for example. This is not to say that you can only wear white clothes in your maternity photo shoot. Ideally, you should choose neutral and light pieces, but a colored piece can also go well. A blue blouse when you want to advertise a boy or a pink piece when your baby is a girl can also go well with other neutral pieces, in addition to bringing joy to your shoot.
Colors that I think are perfect in a pregnancy shoot: white, gray, cream, pale blue and yellow.
4 – Thinking about Dad and older brother’s clothes for the pregnancy rehearsal
This also applies to the other companions of the pregnant woman’s photo session. If you’re taking the older kids, grandma and daddy to the rehearsal, don’t forget to match the looks with them first. Here it is also worth remembering the tip of neutral colors so that the photo shoot is harmonious.

5 – Clothes that have your style
And now the most important tip: respect your style. It’s no use having a photo shoot of a wonderful pregnant woman and you don’t recognize yourself in the photos. The most important thing about your essay is that you have real memories of that very special moment, that’s why be who you are, break the rules and be happy, after all, the essay is YOURS!
I recommend just doing one or two changes during rehearsal, so as not to break the rhythm of your involvement in the photos and also so that you don’t feel exhausted at the end of the shoot.
In the first photo we did Day’s rehearsal at MON and she was wearing a tight striped dress and a denim jacket that she customized. In the second photo, Cintia came from Cuiabá to do her pregnancy test at Bosque do Papa.
