Maybe you waited until the last minute and failed to give your child a killer fantasy. Or maybe you just want to improve the scary set they have. Either way, you’re here to easily hunt down Halloween makeup ideas for kids, and we applaud you. Of course, dressing up is fun. But, if you ask us, makeup can make or break an entire Halloween Set. Plus, you’ll definitely earn bonus points by inviting your child to play with face painting!

When you think of makeup ideas for Halloween, you can assume you’re a special effects prodigy. Fortunately, however, there are many designs that require little more than a relatively steady hand and the right supplies. And if your child likes the beautiful creatures of the forest or leans more towards the macabre, we can help you.

Here are some of our favorite and easy-to-recreate Halloween makeup ideas for boys and girls – or ones that can easily be adapted for adorable little faces.

1. A Glam Scarecrow

Maven Erin Dugan Jurchak shows off this cute scarecrow look. You might want to skip the false eyelashes, but otherwise this is super simple to copy for your child.

2. Classic Big Cat

What’s fantastic about this big cat look is that special effects makeup artist Joey Elliot tells you exactly what products he used – and he specifically chose them to be easily accessible and affordable.

3. Bat mask

Dadadadadadada… Bat Kid! Dress your kid all in black, copy this crazily easy bat mask makeup look, and end the day. Let your child get even more excited about the look by letting them choose the contrasting color around their eyes.

Going back to last year, when I showed you how I got an easy deer look for my daughter. Halloween is coming.. I need some ideas for other looks we can make.. We’re noticing a trend in recent years in the half makeup look that, hey, is great news. Even if you suck at special effects, you only need to pull them off one side of your child’s mug! This design is particularly attractive, as a skull is one of the easiest looks to get.

6. Puppet

This look is best suited for kids who aren’t easily startled because, well, just look at it – it’s scary. It’s also strangely beautiful, don’t you think? If you can make your own face makeup, you can. It’s more about the makeup placement than the design (ie the bags under the eyes and the mouth drawn on the chin).

7. Eye Spy-the

Discreet tits, unite! This look is perfect for those of us who want to give our little ones something festive that happens to be extremely easy. We recommend dressing your scary tracker all black and putting a red hourglass cutout on the back.

8. Count Dracula

When in doubt, release Dracula. All you need to achieve this timeless look is a white base, black widow’s beak, artfully designed fangs, some clever shadows and some fake blood.

9. Rainbow Panda

What do you get when you combine two of every kid’s favorite thing? A rainbow panda, of course. Makeup artist Katie DiStefano even offers an easy and airy tutorial for this colorful look .

10. Scary Clown

If your child isn’t afraid of clowns (there’s nothing scarier than a clown, IMHO), this creepy clown look can delight your little dark heart. While it probably requires a little more subtlety in the makeup skills department than the rest of this list, it’s still a relatively simple design to recreate.

11. Candy Corn Leopard

We love makeup ideas that have a dual function! This one fits the bill because it combines two classic Halloween designs: a leopard look and candy corn. If you need a more in-depth tutorial, makeup artist Ashley Henson shares instructions for a similar style .

12. Glamorous Wolf

Seriously, we couldn’t love this look more if we tried! Granted, it won’t be the simplest style you can try. However, if you are more confident in your makeup skills, we highly recommend trying to turn your child into a glamorous wolf. The key here is to use a variety of angled brushes and makeup pens to give the skin the appearance.

13. Corpse Bride

This look could easily be recreated for kids…you know, as long as you have plenty of blue makeup on your face and body! Make sure you have a family movie night to see Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride before trying, though.
