Sam McKnight
Sam McKnight is a British hairdresser starring and the name behind Princess Diana’s 1990s haircut. With a career spanning more than five decades, McKnight has worked on numerous fashion shows, editorials and campaigns for a client list that includes Fendi, Chanel, Balmain and Tom Ford.
“I would say the look has something of a ’70s girl like British actress Charlotte Rampling. Threads with movement, lustrous, sun-kissed, but with a youthful fullness. We’ll see long bobs with an homage to the 90s, but with a modern finish. People prefer soft layers framing the face, with ‘curtain’ bangs that can be brushed to the sides or split in half, for an almost imperceptible texture.”

Guido Palau
Legendary hairdresser Guido Palau launched his career in the 1990s with editorials for the fashion bible The Face, the iconic video for Freedom! ’90, and a series of campaigns for Calvin Klein starring Kate Moss. Today, Palau continues to inspire generations with his work for some of the biggest names in fashion, from Prada to Valentino.
“Gone are the days when people chose hair for summer or winter. Today people want to express their best, whether with bright pink hair, or highlights, or using their natural textured strands. With everything we’ve been through in the last 18 months, there’s an emphasis on trying to figure out where we’re most comfortable ‘in ourselves.”
“Some people may be more willing to take risks now because they realize, ‘What the hell? It’s just a hair’ — they can encourage themselves to be more experimental. It’s not even to suggest trends, because a style may please one person but not another. If I were to say a trend, it would be discovering the real you, what makes you feel more comfortable. In addition, healthy hair is clean, using good exfoliants and treatments for the scalp, products that give a lot of shine, because these are the things that make us feel good.”

Evanie Frausto
Evanie Frausto is one of the rising stars of fashion. Bella Hadid’s favorite hairdresser, the American-Mexican has been making a name for himself with his surreal aesthetic and fantastical wigs of gigantic proportions, like the ones he recently created for American singer Lil Nas X.
“I’d like to see people return to fancy haircuts — we’ve just been through the yearlong pandemic, so most people haven’t been able to cut or trim their hair. Throw yourself in the fringes, in the chin-length bob, in the mullet! Get the cut you always wanted but were afraid of. Let’s get back to haircuts as a form of personal expression.”

“Right now, I like everything with warmer tones, things that feel sun-kissed and have redness. It can work for all skin tone types — you just need to find the right shade for you. In terms of punctual colorations, I love to see the return of the thick locks of the 90s.”
“People should play with a variety of colors and styles, whether it’s a super tall ponytail, a split zigzag or even a puffy bun. It would be nice to see more diversity — people doing things that are personal to them and defying norms.”
Gary Gill
Hairdresser Gary Gill has worked with everyone from Balenciaga and Vetements to Loewe and Versace. Inspired by music and youth culture, he is celebrated for his cutting-edge aesthetics. Contributing as a beauty editor for Dazed & Confused, Gill is also the art director of mentoring platform Emotive Hair.

“For boys, my bet is military cuts or flat geometric tops, faded to creamy blonde with a slightly regrowth of root. For girls, short on sides and back, with a long, supple top, or medium in length, giving height and texture, again in light tones with the roots slightly showing, or thick highlights, especially on the front. Plus: bet on short, low-maintenance cuts, with sun-faded colors for a fun, carefree summer feeling.”
Shiori Takahashi
Shiori Takahashi is a hairdresser and contributing editor at Dazed Beauty in London. Inspired by subcultural trends, her playful style and innovative aesthetic have seen her work featured everywhere from British and American Vogue to iD magazine, as well as in campaigns for Byredo, Jil Sander and Vivienne Westwood.
“I’m interested in graphic hairstyles right now. The ‘princess cut’ is beautiful, and to create it I’m always inspired by Vidal Sassoon’s old cuts. I’m also loving how tight little braids, in different patterns, can be seen in every magazine.”
“For the Northern Hemisphere summer, I think a natural look will be the way to go as we slowly come out of lockdown, but once we’re in a post-pandemic world, all bets are off — time to go crazy! I’m thinking about shaving my hair long — a new natural approach.”

Bob Recine
New York-based hairdresser and visual artist Bob Recine is responsible for some of the most exciting images in fashion, working alongside legendary photographers Mario Sorrenti, Paolo Roversi and the late Peter Lindbergh. Pushing her materials to the limit, her hair sculptures blur the line between fashion and art.
“I suggest adding 60ml of rose water to your shampoo bottle in order to lighten it up. That way you can wash more often, without feeling like your strands are heavy.”
Louis Ghewy
Studying his art in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2011, Brussels-born hairdresser Louis Ghewy moved to London to pursue a career as a hairdresser. Since then, Ghewy’s multi-layered approach has been with numerous brands including Raf Simons, Versace and Fenty Beauty. He recently styled Romeo Beckham’s bleached blonde locks for the cover of L’Uomo Vogue.
“I see more individuality than ever — I’m seeing so many fun colors and different types of Afro styles. I also feel like hairpins, in all shapes and sizes, are making a comeback. For Coperni’s 2021 summer show, we looked at girls with sexy hair textures — and what’s sexier than a girl who danced and sweated all night?”

Anthony Turner
Whether it’s his recent work for Miu Miu or the latest fashion obsession at Blumarine, Anthony Turner is one of today’s hottest names. A contributing beauty editor at Dazed & Confused, Turner continues to push the boundaries with his bold and bold aesthetic.

“I’m loving the return to the early nineties. It is very fun! I love this whole Euphoria generation style that fuses the nineties with a kind of manga vibe — it’s refreshing and interesting. For this style, the texture is polished and well cared for, with expressive curls at the ends of the hair — think Mean Girls. The color can be anything, as long as it’s just two strands in front of your hair and that contrasts with your natural tone.”
Kiyoko Odo
Inspired by her teenage years poring over the magazine of street style from Harajuku, FRUiTS, Japanese hairdresser Kiyoko Odo creates whimsical pieces that border on the surreal. Based in London, Odo continues to work with some of the biggest names in fashion, from Junya Watanabe to Balenciaga.
“Right now, I’m in the ’60s bowl cut — a perfect bob and some Vidal Sassoon graphic styles. On the other hand, I still love the layered style of the 70s too. In terms of color, I feel happy and vibrant tones approaching.”
Jimmy Paul
American hairdresser Jimmy Paul is an industry legend. Following his mother hairdresser in fashion, Paul created some of the most iconic looks in history, working with everyone from Alexander McQueen to Dior. He’s the man responsible for Gigi Hadid’s Rapunzel locks on the cover of the March issue of American Vogue.”
“I’m loving the haircuts I’ve seen: all kinds of bobs, bangs and no bangs. Peaked and accurate. It’s a great time to add color — something alluring. It’s also a great time to go lighter and add highlights. Something bold, almost homemade!”

Kei Terada
Grandson and son of hairdressers, Kei Terada’s career was practically predetermined. Moving from Japan to London in 1998, Terada has made a name for himself as an industry favorite, whose clients include Paul Smith, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren and Gucci.
“During the lockdown, a lot of people cut their own hair, creating really interesting shapes. A lot of people have cut the bangs short so they can see when they’re wearing masks, so I think we’re going to see a lot of natural styles, which is something I’ve been very inspired by.”
“I’m enjoying natural textures right now, nothing that feels too perfect, something more real. I’m also working in layers on top, almost like a mullet, so it’s not as flat — it’s messier. ”
James Pecis
Born and raised in California, James Pecis is a star-studded hairdresser who does the hair of every celebrity from Kendall Jenner to Kaia Gerber — he even shaved Alexander McQueen’s head. He is the global ambassador of ORIBE.
