A great love story

The luxury brand Balenciaga has been conquered by the French phenomenon Aya Nakamura. The shock duo decided to hit hard by creating a capsule collection containing five articles accompanied by a playlist. The latter called “Balenciaga” which can be found on Apple Music is composed of 42 pieces, it lasts approximately 2 hours. The announcement was made on March 17, 2022, at the end of fashion week.

This playlist obviously includes songs by the singer, taken from her various albums, such as Bobo or Doudou, as well as her recently released duet with Damso, Dégaine. The playlist is varied and mixes emerging rappers like Timaya or Chanceko and figures from the French rap scene like Ninho, Josman, Leto or Oboy. There are also American rappers such as A$AP, Rocky, DJ Khaled, Drake or Pop Smoke.

The items offered are a t-shirt, a hoodie, a long-sleeved t-shirt, a long-sleeved stretch top and a handbag. The prices are between 450 euros for the t-shirt and 1850 euros for the bag. All items offered are limited edition flocked either from “Aya” or “La Nakamurance”.

The well-known fashion house knows how to stay modern by collaborating with several celebrities of this decade. In particular the famous Kim Kardashian (who recently formalized her relationship with Pete Davidson on Instagram in Balenciaga outfit from head to toe) or the Canadian singer Justin Bieber. The brand also collaborates with iconic French actresses such as Isabelle Hupert.

Even if this capsule collection brings freshness to the public, the collaboration between the famous brand and the most listened to French-speaking singer in the world is not new. Indeed, the singer had been the subject of the first cover of a number of vogue France dressed in a Balenciaga coat.

The number entitled “Divine Diva” was able to show the singer in another light, an unequaled elegance. She was also invited to the Balenciaga Haute Couture fall-winter 2021 show in July 2021 as well as to the last presented during Fashion Week fall-winter 2022/2023.

Balenciaga opted for social networks as communication channels for the announcement of this unprecedented collaboration. On Instagram, the double B brand published a story where we see a young woman, dressed in a sweatshirt bearing the image of the star surmounted by the term “La Nakamurance”, brandishing a sign with the inscription: “Aya Nakamura 4 Balenciaga Music”. A redirect link takes you to a page dedicated to this future collaboration on the official Balenciaga website.

For her part, the 26-year-old star posted two photos on her official account, posing with a sweater from her Balenciaga collection accompanied by the brand’s iconic heels. An announcement without artifice, but which aroused the attention and intrigue of Internet users on social networks.

The collection is inspired by the 1990s. The far bag from the “Hourglass” collection was revisited for the occasion in a silver version bearing the singer’s signature. The bag and t-shirt will pair beautifully with low-rise jeans and Nike Cortez shoes.

Let’s hope that this collection is only the beginning of a shocking and refreshing pairing.
