To highlight an exceptional hotel industry, the Palace distinction was created in November 2010, in our country. This specificity makes it possible to distinguish 5-star hotel establishments, benefiting from an exceptional geographical location, with historical, aesthetic and/or particular heritage interest, benefiting from tailor-made services. These establishments are therefore part of the jewels of the French hotel industry. This specificity also makes it possible to simplify the promotion of these hotels on a global level, while promoting French culture and the attractiveness of the destination.
The “palace” distinction must be earned!
This distinction is given for 5 years, after a first phase of file instruction carried out with rigor, by Atout France, the tourist promotion agency of France., followed by a second examination phase. This study is carried out following visits and a hearing of the hotel. This examination is carried out by a commission bringing together personalities from the world of arts, letters, culture, media and business, appointed by the Minister of Tourism. As you can imagine, the criteria for being granted this distinction are very strict. Indeed, everything is checked:
- the meals offered,
- the general atmosphere of the establishment,
- the service,
- the quality of the rooms, etc.
There are 31 Palaces in France, including 12 in Paris, 6 in the Alps, 9 on the Côte d’Azur, 3 in the South West, 1 in the Caribbean. So, if you want to spend a short dream stay, you will necessarily find the establishment that suits you, depending on your destination… and your budget.
